I am a second-generation, Hong Kong-born Filipino migrant. My parents came to HK as domestic workers from the Philippines in the late 1970s, to escape poverty and look for a better life. After working in the finance sector for over a decade, I found my passion in music, and in 2013, I landed my dream job of being a radio presenter/producer for Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK Radio3).
My radio show, Pinoy Life On RTHK, won Best Radio Show at the 2014 and 2021 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards (competing against 300+ other radio shows from around the world). The MAM awards recognise the media’s role in raising public awareness on issues related to Filipino migration.
I co-founded PANGYAO, a multi-media social platform for migrants in Hong Kong. We are an aggregator for all aspects of migrant life. We have a website, Google app, an active Facebook group (42000+ members and growing!) and a print magazine. Through PANGYAO, I hope to better serve the community directly, with passion, friendship and dignity.
I live on Lamma Island with my husband, Darren, my little girl, Lily and our dog, Kobe.
