I saw this yesterday on an external wall in our village, so I took a picture of it.
This is a STICK INSECT (it got its name from…well… a stick, because it looks like a stick 😄 )
Its scientific name is Phasmatodea or Phasmatoptera. It is pronounced as Fasma….Fasmatod…. Fasmatop…; ok, never mind, 😌 let’s stick with STICK INSECT (stick with stick…hahaha, did I just write that?), it’s not easy to say its real name.
Looking like a stick is its mechanism for defense from predators. The predator won’t attack a wood-looking thing, so it prevents an attack from happening in the first place; that’s its first defense. However, if an attack happens, it will use its body to attack to make an offense; that’s the secondary defense.
It is an AMAZING ANIMAL … errr... in the world of insects. 🤠😎
