1. What is your name and the name of the organisation you represent?

I am Fe Diza, an ambassador for PathFinders.

2. Tell us a bit more about yourself.

I am a person of faith and determination, and a person full of vision. With all the challenges and trials I am facing since and then, I always remind myself that all will be well soon. In addition, I am also compassionate and service oriented. Everytime I have been given the chance to help and serve, I am doing it from my heart and do it in the best way I can.

3. What inspired you to become a Pathfinders ambassador?

My desire to help my fellow Migrant workers, the ones who are in most needs and troubles inspire me to become a Pathfinders ambassador. Through training given by Pathfinders, I became more knowledgeable and have correct information about the Maternity Protection of migrant workers and about love scam. The growing numbers of pregnant migrant workers and the increasing number of love scam victims are so alarming. And I believed that through correct information that will be disseminating to my fellow migrant workers, this will help to lessen that figure.  As an ambassador, I serve as a linking bridge to them, to the Pathfinders, the right organization in terms of these kinds of issues.

4. What social issues would you like to see improve?

Social Inequality (Maternity Protection)

Some helpers are often unlawfully terminated from their employment because of their pregnancy, and still some are warned by employers not to get pregnant during the course of their contract.  Whenever the FDW has been terminated prematurely from her employment, she is no longer entitled to receive public health care. And children born here by FDWs who do not have an existing employment contract anymore will leave in limbo.

Social Discrimination (Love Scam)

FDWs who are victims of love scam are afraid and embarrassed to come out publicly and seek help because of the social stigma that is being attached to them whenever they reveal their stories. People tend to judge and label them with words that would only hurt them, instead of understanding and helping them to boost their confidence and courage to speak out. There's a lack of respect and understanding from people surrounding them. And because of lack of moral support from society, victims tend to hide up the reality.

5. Advice for fellow migrant workers

I advise my fellow workers to be always strong, to face their problems right at the start. Ignoring a problem only complicates it. Know some important organizations including our own consulate that could help them in time of emergency and save important contact numbers for future purposes.

To earn and to save for the future. We have to fully understand that a work abroad is only temporary. Sooner or later, we have to go home...to our families, which first and foremost, is the reason for us being here in the host country.

Above all, when the going gets tough, pray, and lean on God. There are many obstacles to surmount in life, but each one you conquer is another one behind you. Let God lead the way and guide up the rugged cliffs. He knows all the danger spots and how to get past them. Together, you will overcome obstacles and reach the summit of victory!
