What’s your name and group you represent?

My name is Jojo De Guzman and my group is called Hongkong Connect (HKC).

Tell us a bit more about yourself and your group.

I am an OFW working in Hong Kong as a driver since 2011. I have created a group called Hong Kong Connect in August 2015, initially to bridge connections among Filipino workers in Hong Kong. The main goal of the group is to build and maintain friendship through helping hands. Currently the population is 9600.

How do you sign up to be a member?

Basically the group is Facebook based, so all you do is click the Join button and fill up the necessary information asked. There is no membership fee.

What improvements in Migrant lives would you like to see?

OFWs in Hong Kong meet tons of problems on a daily basis. Seminars are not enough if there is no implementation or action done for resolution. Perhaps the joint forces of OFW leaders across Hongkong is a good start.

Advice for our Pangyaos here in HK?

Our Pangyaos should at least exert effort in meeting Three basic components of being OFW: Be Active, Be Vigilant, Be Patriotic. We Filipinos must keep active on seminars, classes, information dissemination and activities. These will keep us physically fit, informed and socially healthy. We must be vigilant to any hostile environments and situations. There are many opportunists who are ready to scam us or even lead to death. And lastly, We should keep our core value as Filipinos. The spirit of being a Filipino is fighting for your own race, culture, and tradition.
