1. What is your name and the name of the organisation you represent?
I am Khenny Lynn Go. A Filipino ambassador of Enrich HK.
2. Tell us more about your group’s advocacy?
Enrich HK is a non-profit organisation that advocates the empowerment of migrant workers through giving workshops in financial education and personal development. It aims in empowering migrant workers to escape debt, save for their future, manage their finances and help them to reach their goals and dreams for themselves and for their family.
3. How do you sign up to the courses?
To me I signed up through Facebook. I saw this post from Philippine Overseas Labour Office offering free financial literacy with Enrich HK. But to those who want to sign up for the classes, create your free Enrich Account on Enrich website (www.enrichhk.org). Check out the workshop schedule and register online. But due to COVID-19 the workshops are now all online. Download the Zoom video app in advance to join sessions easily (Google Play / App Store). 4. What social issues would you like to see to improve?
The lack of financial literacy in the Philippines is huge. You can call it a social justice issue, because people don't have equal access and knowledge to financial education. The lack of financial literacy contributes to unemployment and wealth inequality which is prevalent in the Philippines. So, if we could bring all sectors in – the government, the school systems, families, workplace, nonprofits – we could move the needle.
5. Advice for fellow migrant workers:
Never stop dreaming but at the same time never stop working to achieve that dream. Let's not stop learning and let's equip ourselves with knowledge that we can use in achieving our goals and dreams. Let's not say we are old to learn, no, there's no age limit in learning. If we can change our path as we are today, let's start to do so.
With perseverance, a positive attitude and a clear mindset everything is possible. Just enjoy the process because the major key to success and a healthy life is to enjoy yourself during the process of whatever you are trying to accomplish. Let's always start our day with positivity and faith.
