1. What is your name and which migrant group do you represent?

I am Noemi Manguerra,  co-founder and current President of Guhit Kulay. I've been working in Hong Kong for 15 years. A self-taught artist who loves writing poems, sports and nature. Guhit Kulay was co-founded and formed May 1, 2017 by 4 domestic migrant workers, Cecil Eduarte, Ruby Timtim and Cristina Cayat and officiated at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong a year ago.

2. Please tell us a bit more about yourself and your group’s advocacy.

GK is a support group that encourage, motivate and inspire art enthusiasts to share or explore their abilities in arts and crafts. Our mission.and vision is to organize a free art workshop in parks or in venues that will be suitable for creating artworks. And to collaborate with like-minded organisations to share skills and encourage more migrants to participate.

3. How do people sign up to become a member?

GK is open to anyone who wants to join or be a member. We have members from Singapore, Philippines and Indonesian migrant domestic workers too.  They can simply post their artworks on our Facebook page or send to us through our email address. As in any group or organisation, GK members/officers have rules and regulations that they need to comply with.

4. What improvements in Migrant lives would you like to see?

We're hoping that through our group that more migrant workers will be inspired and make the most of their holidays/days off in a productive way. One way or another this will help them improve and share their hidden talents.  We want to see how arts and crafts change their lives the way they changed us emotionally, physically, psychologically, spiritually and financially.

5. Advice for our fellow migrants here in HK

To our fellow migrants, let us focus on our goals and dreams and have a mind set of, "I can do it!".  Be an example/model to everyone. Learn to value everything you have and learn to share your  knowledge, skills and talent to uplift others.
