About seven years ago, I had a wonderful discussion with my 6th graders about The Road Not Taken - a world renowned poem by Robert Frost (see attached video). After the lesson, I asked them to write a 1-sentence reflection (about the poetry supposedly). While checking their papers, I was surprised to discover some of the most beautiful life lessons no one would ever expect to hear from 12 year old children.

I still carry you in my heart, Batch 2013. I hope you are all enjoying college.

The Road Not Taken

Grace 06 Fidelity

[Batch 2013]

1. It is ok to take risk.

2. Be fair to everyone even in small things.

3. The path that you choose is the path that defines who you are.

4. Be mature when choosing the path to take!

5. Choosing the easier road can prevent you from seeing greater things.

6. The true test of life is if you can withstand the tests given by God

7. One common characteristic of people is FEAR.

8. Some may say that the dark and ugly road symbolizes mistakes; but for me, it represents beginnings as it is not fixed yet.

9. Life begins with challenges - so is each road.

10. You can change yourself if you'll learn how to face these challenges.

11. Roads are representations of life as a process of learning.

12. Patience is what you need in order to reach your destination - try to be productive while waiting for the right time for you to reach that place.

13. Things that look bad are not always bad.

14. Sometimes we get torn apart with the decisions we have to make.

15. You can cheat and skip the challenges in your life but time will come when you'll need to face them.
