Hello Pangyaos! What lovely weather we had this past weekend. It was especially lovely for Martin and I (and Lily) as we headed to the Migrants Pride 2019 event, held at Edinburgh Place, City Hall in Central.

As we approached the venue, we could already see the colourful flags and hear the festive music. Groups of dancers were practising their moves while several people were putting up balloons and streamers.

There were booths that offered free massages and another one that offered  t-shirt printing.

We were greeted by Shiela Tebia-Bonifacio, the Chairperson of Gabriela Hong Kong, who was one of the organisers of the event.

We also had the chance to catch up with Eman Villanueva, Chairperson at BAYAN Hongkong & Macau, Vice Chairman at Filipino Migrant Workers' Union - Hong Kong and Secretary General at UNIFIL-MIGRANTE-HK. It was his daughter Elca's 2nd birthday celebration as well, which made the day even more special for him and his wife, Lalay.

Also present was Dolores Balladares Pelaez, Chairperson of the United Filipinos in Hong Kong.

After some dance numbers from various groups, the pride parade began. "We're here, we're queer, we will never disappear!" was chanted while different migrant groups made their way through the parade.

It was a lovely celebration of diversity and culture. A celebration of acceptance and respect for equal rights.
