To provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
Established in Hong Kong in 1974, the Samaritans provides confidential emotional support to people who are suicidal or are in general distress. At the Samaritans, we envision a society in which fewer people die by suicide, and where people are able to explore their own feelings, and acknowledge and respect the feelings of others. Our unpaid volunteers support the operation of our 24-hour multilingual hotline service.
The Samaritans has been relying on the public’s generosity to continue providing services that make a difference in the lives of people we serve. We have been reaching out to local secondary students to empower our youth with listening and peer support skills; we also provide emotional support to people bereaved by suicide.
By supporting the Samaritans you are not just helping to support one cause, you are helping us to support everyone in our community who, irrespective of race, creed, age or status, would like to be listened to and accepted without prejudice.
