My Influences

Today I would like to share the books that have influenced me as a writer. If you know some of them, or if you are a fan of one of them, please let me know at the comment section. You can also share your thoughts about the authors you admire and their works.

Francine Pascal is a part of my growing up years as a young reader. The maker of famous twins Jessica and Elizabeth. I got hooked with her books from Sweet Valley Kids, to High and then Sweet Valley Saga. I started reading them in my school. I used my library card to borrow these books. Then I started buying some of them as a collection. I had a shelf filled up with all the volumes that I bought and read. πŸ˜Š

Carolyne Keene, the author of Nancy Drew series. I just love this witty and fearless detective solving mysteries and sending antagonists to jail. Alongside with this detective stories is the Hardy Boys, created by many writers but goes with one pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon. Joe and Frank Hardy are teenage boys who started their investigatory journey at a young age. I will read this alternately with Francine Pascal actually.

Danielle Steele made up most of shelves as a teener. She is also one of my mom's favourite author. The Legacy, The Promise and Sands of Time were just some of her books that I love and left a strong feeling on me. A talented author that she is. Many of her novels were turned into television series as well.

Sidney Sheldon's Rage of Angels got me to heavier readings. A more adult contents about love, passion and deceits. Thorn Birds by Colleen Mc Cullough is also one. A novel from the Chilean countryside about a priest who was torn between love and his ambitions.

Stephen King, the author for horrors, supernatural things, Science Fiction, and the likes, is also one of my influencers when it comes to this genre. It always got me off my seat when reading his books. The suspense and thrill are so alive and I find myself excitedly flipping pages from one chapter to another.

Filipino books and authors like Precious Hearts Romances and Gilda Olvidado wakens up my heart in Filipino novels. Their famous novels, some have turned into series and movies. I would usually go to a neighbour or a friend to read one in exchange for another book from the authors also.

These are the few of my favourite books and authors, well aside from Aesop's Fables, Walt Disney Princesses, Britannica and Atlast. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

But my reading foundation really started from reading newspapers because of my Lola Ating. It all started with her.

Much love and God bless! πŸ’—πŸ™
